AYO Young Symphonists is your foot-in-the-door to a world of opportunities in orchestral music. It is where you will meet new friends and get the chance to learn from and work with some of the country’s best musicians and teachers, to achieve excellence in performing highly challenging repertoire. Designed specifically for 12-17 year olds, this program provides instrumental training and musical development with a focus not only on learning core repertoire, but also on spending time with other young musicians in a fun, live-in environment. AYO Young Symphonists is a great starting point for your musical journey, and experience has proven you will want to keep coming back!

In 2010, AYO Young Symphonists will be structured in two streams to offer intensive, focused study with specialised teachers.
STRINGS: Music Director, Paul Wright is a violinist, Director of Strings and the Geoffrey Robinson Musician-in-Residence at The University of Western Australia. He has been featured as a soloist with many major Australian orchestras and performed with countless ensembles.
WIND, BRASS & PERCUSSION: Music Director, Peter Moore has held the position of Principal Bassoon with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and played Principal Bassoon on a casual basis for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony.
