AYO AT STRATHEWEN PRIMARY SCHOOL UPDATE
Helping Our Local Communities
18 March, 2010
Following the devastating effects of the Black Saturday bushfires, the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), with the support of the Accenture Australia Foundation, helped bring back the joy of music to the children at Strathewen Primary School by delivering much needed musical instruments last week.
The talented AYO musicians not only gave the Strathewen students an interactive demonstration on how to use marimbas and showed them interesting music pieces that they can play; the AYO musicians have also taken the percussion instruments out of the boxes and assembled it themselves.
Cornish commented: “The AYO is thrilled to be able to help the Strathewen Primary School after the school tragically burnt down last year in the Black Saturday bushfires.
“Since the bushfires, the children have had limited access to musical instruments and we’re delighted to provide these for the students to enjoy and learn on.”
The AYO and the Accenture Foundation have delivered instruments and music making equipment to Middle Kinglake Primary School at the end of 2009 and will be visiting Marysville Primary Schools over the coming months. This donation has been made possible thanks to the support of the Accenture Australia Foundation. Accenture is the principal sponsor of the Australian Youth Orchestra.
