AYO BRINGS MUSIC BACK TO STRATHEWEN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

10 March 2010,

Following the devastating effects of the Black Saturday bushfires, the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), with the support of the Accenture Australia Foundation, is helping to bring the joy of music back to the children at Strathewen Primary School by delivering much needed musical instruments this week.

The CEO of the Australian Youth Orchestra, Colin Cornish, and AYO musicians will present the school students with a new piano and percussion instruments this Friday at 11am.

The talented AYO musicians will also give the Strathewen students an interactive demonstration on how to use marimbas and show them some interesting music pieces that they can play.

Cornish commented: “The AYO is thrilled to be able to help the Strathewen Primary School after the school tragically burnt down last year in the Black Saturday bushfires.

“Since the bushfires, the children have had limited access to musical instruments and we’re delighted to provide these for the students to enjoy and learn on.”

This donation has been made possible thanks to the support of the Accenture Australia Foundation.  Accenture is the principal sponsor of the Australian Youth Orchestra.
