AYO Young Symphonists bring Australia’s best young musicians to Mittagong
6 April 2010,
Some of Australia’s most talented young musicians are currently participating in an intensive week-long orchestral training program in Mittagong presented by The Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO).
The Young Symphonists program is specially designed for high calibre musicians aged 12 – 17 and includes two specialist streams; one for string players and another for wind, brass and percussion players. This program takes place during the Easter school holidays and allows young musicians to meet and interact with other young like-minded musicians as they partake in instrumental training and musical development in a nurturing environment.
The musicians for the 2010 program are under the guidance of renowned violinist Paul Wright, currently Director of Strings and the Geoffrey Robinson Musician-in-Residence at The University of Western Australia, and leading Australian Bassoonist Peter Moore, who is currently Principal with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.
The week will conclude with a series of free public performances on
