Based on the wisdom that great music is the best source of inspiration and learning for any musician, the AYO Young Symphonists program opens a window onto the fantastic joy of symphonic music-making. You’ll join with the best young musicians from around Australia to experience the satisfaction of playing together and taking your musical skills to a whole new level. You’ll also work with directors and tutors who are among Australia’s most respected musicians, sparking your enthusiasm for making music that will continue to inspire you and make you want more.


STRINGS: Music Director, violinist Michele Walsh enjoys a varied career as performer and educator. Formerly Associate Concertmaster of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Michele is currently senior lecturer in violin and Head of the String Department at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. She is a member of the Griffith Trio and regularly appears in concerts and festivals in Australia and overseas.


WIND, BRASS & PERCUSSION: Music Director, Yoram Levy is Principal Trumpet of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. He is Brass Coordinator and trumpet lecturer at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, and President of the Island Brass Academy in Hobart. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Levy has established a great reputation in trumpet and brass pedagogy.

> Minimum standard AMEB Grade 6 or equivalent
> Open to violin, viola, cello and double bass instrumentalists
