For any young orchestral musician, being part of the Australian Youth Orchestra represents the
epitome of achievement. Selection into the Australian Youth Orchestra is an acknowledgement
of excellence recognised at a national level, with the rewards of amazing international
conductors, inspiring repertoire, and great concert experiences in Australia’s most prestigious
venues. In 2011, the AYO will return to Adelaide and Melbourne in February, and to the Sydney
Opera House in July.
THE CONDUCTOR
Perry So is one of the inaugural Dudamel Conducting Fellows at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Assistant Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the 2009/10 season includes his Moscow debut with the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia as well as a five week residency with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Danish conductor, Thomas Dausgaard is renowned for his dynamic conducting style, his fresh approach to a broad range of repertoire, his prolific discography and the exciting results he has achieved as Chief Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR and as Chief Conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra.

AYO Scholarships
What would you do with $10,000 to help you realise your musical ambitions? AYO can help. In 2011, AYO will be awarding $10,000 cash scholarships to three outstanding musicians aged 18 – 25 selected for the Australian Youth Orchestra. It will help pay for AYO fees, purchase a new instrument, or even for travel for study or auditions.
