The AYO’s International Tour Fund helps make international touring possible by enabling us to support and nurture musical development and performance experiences. In 2010 the Australian Youth Orchestra will embark on its 20th international tour with performances in China, the United Kingdom, Denmark and The Netherlands.
The tour will include performances at the Sydney Opera House, Llewellyn Hall in Canberra, the Shanghai Concert Hall in Shanghai, the new National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Royal Alber Hall in London, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The orchestra will be directed by renowned British conductor and music director, Sir Mark Elder of the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester.
Since its first international tour to Japan in 1970 the Australian Youth Orchestra has visited over 20 countries and played in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. International touring is a key part of the AYO’s activities, providing musicians with a unique classical music training experience. Levels of Support
The International Tour Fund is an annual giving campaign in support of each tour. Options for sponsorship include:
- Sponsor a Conductor - $25,000
- Sponsor a Concertmaster - $20,000
- Sponsor a Section - $10,000
- Sponsor a Principal Musician - $3,000
- Sponsor a Section Musician - $1,000
- Make a Green Room Donation - Up to $999
