AYO Young Symphonists

AYO Young Symphonists is where the musical journey of AYO begins! Take the first step on your orchestral path and join with the best young musicians from around Australia for an intensive week of music-making. This program is designed specifically for 12–17 year olds who aim to achieve excellence in highly-challenging orchestral repertoire, and opens the door to endless possibilities available to young musicians looking to experience the joy of symphonic music.

Richard Gill is one of Australia’s pre-eminent and most admired conductors specialising in opera, musical theatre and vocal and choral training, and is internationally respected as a music educator. What’s involved?

You’ll join the country’s best young musicians for a week-long residential program in Mount Eliza. The program is fully catered, and musicians stay in shared accommodation. Over the course of the program musicians will attend tutorials with some of Australia’s most respected tutors; and rehearsals led by conductor Richard Gill, a leading figure in music education in Australia. At the end of the program, participants will showcase their newly-honed skills in an exciting public performance in Melbourne.
