Originally from Sydney, Jackie Hansen is currently Principal Contrabassoonist with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, a position which she has held since 2009.

Jackie has performed with most of Australia's major symphony orchestras, including the Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, and in 2010 toured throughout Europe performing with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. As part of her busy schedule, Jackie performs regularly on modern and historical bassoons with various ensembles including Southern Cross Soloists, Bowerbird Ensemble, Ensemble Galante, and more recently with Pinchgut Opera. Her interest in music education has seen Jackie involved in tutorin for the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp, Adelaide Youth Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists Winter Music School and Southern Cross Soloists teaching residency at the National University of Singapore in 2012. Jackie is also completing a PhD at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music researching historically informed performance practice for the bassoon and is a founding member of the renaissance bassoon consort Phagotum.
