AYO Young Symphonists

AGE: 12 – 17

Specifically tailored for our youngest participants aged, this program for 60 young musicians offers them a place to meet other like-minded musicians to experience playing with a full orchestra and also in smaller chamber groups.

AYO National Music Camp

Age: 14-30

National Music Camp is an Australian institution and our largest annual program. Each year 235 musicians, composers, music writers and arts administration students from around Australia immerse themselves in two weeks of intensive music-making, benefiting from expert tuition and fantastic repertoire, which culminates in a concert series.

The Australian Youth Orchestra

Age: up to 25

Acceptance into this program is an acknowledgment of excellence with around 90 participants exploring thrilling musical works with the world's greatest conductors. Touring internationally every three years, the orchestra accepts invitations to perform in prestigious venues and landmark festivals, and is Australia's most toured symphony orchestra.

AYO Chamber Players

Age: 18 – 28

For advanced students wishing to study chamber music at an elite level, the focus here is on ensemble learning in trios or quartets. Each year, the program accepts just over 30 participants, enabling them to nurture their skills with outstanding tutors and find an exciting and personal way of performing music.

AYO Regional Residencies

AGE: 18 – 28

Held throughout the year, this remarkable program literally takes students on a journey so they experience life-on-the road as part of a touring ensemble in quartets or quintets. With a focus on regional Australia, performances are held in church halls, community centres and even barns, allowing regional Australia the opportunity to experience classical music and our participants a vital opportunity to grow as musicians.
