Concert preparations with the
Australian Youth Orchestra

The country’s finest young musicians have gathered in Sydney this week for their final week of rehearsals under the baton of conductor Courtney Lewis, and our spectacular showcase with pianist Andrey Gugnin is just a few days away! With an action-packed schedule of tutorials, professional development sessions and tutti rehearsals under the baton of Courtney Lewis, we took a look behind the scenes to discover more about their concert preparations.

AYO musicians have been attending tutorials with some of Australia’s most esteemed professionals. As our tutors for this program we were delighted to welcome musicians from some of the country’s most renowned ensembles, including Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Goldner String Quartet, Omega Ensemble, and Australian World Orchestra.

Over the past few days our young musicians have also been lucky enough to rehearse under the baton of Courtney Lewis as they prepare for their concerts on Saturday 14 and Monday 16 July. Courtney is Music Director of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and has travelled from Florida to lead the orchestra in their exciting showcase.
