Webinar 1—Welcome to AYO
Wednesday 28 July, 7pm AEST

On Wednesday 28 July at 7pm AEST we’ll be hosting our first applications webinar! If you’re a first-time applicant, or you’ve got a student or a child who’s thinking about applying, we’re here to give you an overview of the AYO experience.

We’ll be going through the AYO basics—who we are, what we do, and how you might like to get involved. We’ll run through the programs that we’ll be offering for 2022, including National Music Camp and all our arts administration and composition programs. You’ll get to know some of the AYO staff, as well as some past participants who can help answer some questions and give you an idea of what you might be able to expect from our programs.

We’ll also get into how our application portal works, and what you should start thinking about if you’ve decided to apply.

We’ll be answering your questions directly, so if you’ve got a specific question that needs answering submit it here.


Webinar 2—Preparing for an AYO instrumental audition
Week commencing Monday 9 August

Our second applications webinar will happen during the week commencing Monday 9 August.

In this session we’ll be covering the next step of the application process—your instrumental audition. Whilst auditions can be a bit intimidating, we’re here to help, and this webinar will cover everything you need to know to alleviate some of that anxiety. Our webinar guests will run through all the specifics for preparing for your audition, from selecting your individual piece and approaching the allocated excerpts. We’ll also give a rundown of the assessment criteria, and explain how our panellists assess your audition.

Webinar 3—AYO Composition & Arts Administration programs
Week commencing Monday 16 August

There's so much more to discover! Come along to our third applications webinar in the week commencing Monday 16 August and learn all about our arts administration and composition programs. We’ll discuss how they fit into the ecology of our National Music Camp and what you’ll need to apply.

This session will be packed with information about the programs, what to expect once you’re at Music Camp, and how to best prepare your portfolio for submission and consideration.

Webinar 4—Considerations for recording your audition video
Week commencing Monday 23 August

Join us for our final webinar, which will take place the week commencing Monday 23 August.

Like last year, this year’s auditions will be entirely held online. This means you’ll need to record your instrumental audition and upload it to our portal. We know that might make things a little more difficult, so we’re here to help!

We’ll go through the general logistical requirements you’ll need to meet for the audition, such as how to present yourself on camera and how to set up your audition space. We’ll also be offering help and advice around the technical aspects of recording your audition.

We understand that everyone has access to different recording equipment, so we’ll be answering your specific questions in order to help you make the most of whatever recording equipment you have at hand. Submit your questions here.
