Momentum Ensemble

We are delighted to welcome back Music Director of the Israel Chamber Orchestra, Ariel Zuckermann, to lead Momentum Ensemble through an exciting array of contemporary works that explore themes of place, nature and belonging. Between 23 May and 4 June, the ensemble will tour through fire impacted communities in Victoria and New South Wales, culminating in a performance at Tasmania’s picturesque Spring Bay Mill.  Celebrating Australian music, this project will feature Avem Asperitas, a special work created for Momentum Ensemble in 2019 by composer Lachlan Skipworth and photographer Greg Barrett. The program will also present evocative works for chamber ensemble by Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu, and Australian composers Julia Potter and Brenda Gifford, concluding with Julian Yu’s skilful arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Friday 27 May - Friday 3 June
VIC:  Meeniyan, Mallacoota, Merimbula, Melbourne
TAS:  Spring Bay Mill
