Update on AYO Autumn Season due to COVID-19 developments

The AYO Board of Directors and staff have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in order to assess the impact it may have on our upcoming programs. At the heart of all our activities is the health and wellbeing of our young musicians, as well as our administrative staff, artistic team and audiences.

We have made the difficult decision not to proceed with the planned Autumn Season set to commence on 10 April in Victoria. The associated performances with conductor Benjamin Northey and cellist Pei-Sian Ng will not proceed in Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre on 16 April and Melbourne Recital Centre on 17 April.

All program participation fees paid for the current AYO Autumn Season will be refunded. Our partner venues will be in contact with anyone who has purchased tickets to the concerts.

We acknowledge that our musicians, supporters and audiences are extremely disappointed—as we are too. This decision has not been taken lightly, and has been informed by the current advice available by government and health experts. AYO will continue to review this information with the intention to reschedule the program at a later period in the year. Presently all other AYO programs are due to continue as scheduled.

As always, we appreciate your continued support as we work through this extraordinary situation.
