AYO National Music Camp Composition 

Some say composing can be a lonely profession, but for these two weeks it’s exactly the opposite! You’ll be among colleagues and friends in a shared endeavour of music-making. See your work come to life as it is rehearsed and performed by the musicians and tutors of the AYO National Music Camp orchestral program, and push the boundaries of composition with guidance from one of Australia’s leading composers.



Melody Eotvos  

Melody Eötvös

Melody holds a Doctor of Music (2014) from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music USA, and a Master of Music (2008) from the Royal Academy of Music, London UK. Her current commissions include a major work for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, a guitar and cello work for Duo Atlas (France), and a suite of solo piano pieces. In 2018 Melody will also be taking up a new academic position at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music as Lecturer in Composition and Aural Skills. Read more.


What’s involved?

As a composition student you’ll work with leading Australian composer, Melody Eötvös, to create and fine-tune a brand new piece of music. You’ll hear your work performed by AYO’s experienced instrumental tutors, and have the opportunity to work with these professionals in rehearsals before your composition’s premiere in an exciting public concert.

From the minute you arrive at AYO National Music Camp, you’ll experience a whirlwind of new faces, exhilarating challenges. uplifting performances and first encounters with Australia’s best young musicians, music journalists, sound engineers and administrators. With an action packed schedule it’s important to look after our participants. We provide airport transfers, comfortable shared accommodation and three meals per day for every camp attendee.
