Music needs people who can talk and write about it with flair and insight. The Words About Music program is a hothouse of writing, talking and thinking about music. The program will provide participants with the toolkit to communicate about music in a compelling way through online and print mediums—getting your passion for music out there with precisely the right words.

Phillip has spent his working life advocating for music and musicians—in print, online, on air and on stage. He has appeared on all the major ABC radio networks, as writer, presenter and producer. What's involved?

As a Words About Music participant, you’ll learn the tricks of the trade behind music journalism and gain useful skills to help you succeed in your musical career. Over the course of the program your tutor will guide you through how to create an artist biography and present yourself to an audience—whether you’re introducing music on stage or discussing it as part of an interview. You’ll also learn how to produce top-notch program notes and explore your musical thoughts and ideas through long-form writing.
